Dead leaf on dead grass

Most of the grass surrounding our house (and farm) is either dead or in the process of dying, due to the lack of rain. I saw this leaf on the some of our dried up lawn, and thought it looked fantastic against the brown background.

The forecasters are now telling us that there isn't going to be any serious rain until the end of March. Dry stock farmers in the North Island are selling their lambs early as they don't have any surplus feed to give them. This, of course, causes an over supply on the market, and the price therefore plummets.

After a 4.20am start this morning, I'm starting to feel a bit lethargic - and we still have to go out and milk tonight. I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning.......
