Queuing

Today's activities mostly involved queuing (or as some say "waiting in line") for various kinds of service. The supermarket was very crowded due, I am told by the very pleasant check-out assistant, to it being school half-term.  Presumably the children weren't all spending the day in front of computer screens but were being treated to an exciting day viewing the canned goods.

Again, I failed to get one of the items on my Dad's list. When I enquired why it wasn't available the staff member said "well, we are not supposed to say the word "Brexit" ...but Brexit."

Thence to his bank for some admin. There, a long wait whilst someone withdrew several thousands of pounds in cash.  I had to wonder "why." She then wanted an explanation for a Direct Debit item on her account in favour of a mysterious entity called "BG.' The very patient assistant said "could it be British Gas?" It was.
