Winter Wonderland

Yesterday the snow had looked to be thawing but overnight we had another fall of snow heavier than the first a couple of days ago. My brother had been unable to sleep as he had been told he had to go back to work in London so he was up and about very early (three a.m!). This in turn woke me up and we both looked out of an upstairs window to see that more snow had fallen - just in time to see a very healthy looking fox leaving a trail of snowy footprints up our driveway.
After dropping my brother off at the station at about seven a.m I got home for a hot cup of coffee and then headed out for a solo winter walk. It was a beautiful crisp winter morning with lovely blue skies and fantastic light - a true winter wonderland. I started my walk by heading to Ferryfield Recreation Ground where I took the first two extra photos of different climbing frames in the playground (I loved the shapes and patterns of each structure enhanced by the snowfall) and then headed out of our local village on to a lane called Pratling Street (or as we used to called it Mr and Mrs McCreary's Road, after a very kindly old couple we knew who lived there well into their 90's in a tiny cottage with gothic windows) up towards the North Downs.
Halfway up the hill I cut across a field just below a part of our local vineyard and crossed a road on to a footpath I had never used before. This is where I took the main image looking over a field to farm buildings and oast houses surrounded by snow covered trees. This led down to a rather rickety looking footbridge over a small stream that opened out on to pastures housing several lonely looking horses. I decided not to cross the footbridge as it was covered in snow and therefore tempting fate - I would have probably ended up falling headfirst into the stream!
The last extra photo was taken on the last leg of my walk - the way the barbed wire looked against the snowy landscape just caught my eye.
