Two Sides of the Coin
Edinburgh feels today like the Arctic without snow. I braved a route march round the Meadows with a razor sharp east wind stinging the exposed parts of my face. Masks come in handy in sub zero temperatures.
I was gifted this enormous slab of Birthday cake yesterday from my newly 50 year old neighbour from on high. I have been nibbling it at coffee times and keeping it in the fridge to lengthen its shelf life so that I can nibble it for a little longer.
Lest you think I only eat cake, I have blipped the second pan of soup I have made today. The first was spicy squash and apple and this is leek and potato with a few extras from the foot of the fridge.
I’m into soups in a big way at the moment, drowning in them in fact if my ‘soup lady’ hands in any more of her experiments.
It is just as gloomy today as it was 52 years ago when Porty daughter came into the world. In fact I think there was a forecast of heavy snow in the Glasgow area which forced me to get to hospital from Rutherglen more quickly than I might have done otherwise. She obliged before they sent me home again.
Happy Birthday, Kathy!
