Even when falling apart...

Agapanthas - really like them. They're hardy, pretty-much maintenance-free, and so easy to propagate. When in full bloom they form large swathes of magnificent purple displays, ranging from pale lavender to deep purple - all sitting atop long, lush, smooth green stems. 
Even when they've finished flowering and are coming apart at the seams, they pull this one last trick for the season. Certainly no expert, but guessing they're seed pods, perhaps getting ready for some self-seeding in the coming months. No need now for bright bee-attracting colours - common or garden green will do the job nicely.
Just love that exquisitely fine white 'tail' flowing out of the bottom of each pod - where did they learn to do that? And, like the little pip on the French beret, what on earth is it for?
