Don’t let the sun go down on me ...

Today the launch date of the latest 007 film is deferred once again due to the pandemic. Some say that if this film has to go straight to stream it could mark the end of the big screen as we used to know it?

The Art Deco George cinema (and subsequently Bingo Hall) in Bath Street is on the point of redevelopment into residential accommodation if the plans are approved. Across the High Street the Town Hall is also awaiting its future as two organisations bid to bring it back to life. I do hope the Town Hall can continue to play its part in the heart of Portobello and The George’s iconic facade remains a unique local landmark.

The sunshine today was, as always, a great tonic and the snow covered hills visible from the house in all directions a wonderful winter treat.
