Travellers' Joy
Today we escaped the Cotswolds. First stop was the Blue and Yellow store in Bristol. (It’s a few miles further that our spin along the Edinburgh City Bypass to Straiton when we lived in Joppa!). We were on the hunt for bookshelves for our second study upstairs in our new house. We found what we wanted and established that we can order it online and have it delivered. Just as well as the boxes would have been too long for our car!
We also bought some house plants for the conservatory. They were a fraction of the price being charged at our local garden centre. I also enjoyed a rare treat of a guilty pleasure Swedish signature lunch dish!
As we were so near the Severn Estuary we came home via the Victorian seaside resort of Clevedon.
We walked the length of the promenade. We admired the pier and will return to enjoy a stroll along its 840 feet on an early summer visit. Full details of its history can be read here https://clevedonpier.co.uk/building-the-pier/
We were impressed by the sea swimmers in the refurbished tidal pool but definitely not tempted to join them. We thought of Blipper Lady Findhorn who is made of far stronger stuff than us wimps!
Cardiff was clearly visible across the estuary. In the days before Brunel’s Severn Railway tunnel passengers took the steamer to Cardiff from Clevedon Pier.
My extras show the pier seen through the dense growth of travellers’ joy and a view down the pier from the Pier Master’s house.
