Pea Souper
This is the first day I've been for a proper walk since I did my knee again. It was so good to get out even though it was so foggy and very icy. I thought it would be best to stick to fields so we'd have better grip but there were icy patches everywhere and both of us had the odd slip. We don't want any broken bones - the NHS have enough on their plates!
I think the temperatures are rising a bit now. We had -5 yesterday but Sabrina said it was -9 where they live in Airdrie.
I messaged a friend who is a nurse in Dumfries Infirmary to ask how she is coping as Dumfries is one of the worst hit in Scotland. She is very stressed and anxious about the situation there as cases rise daily. Some staff having to work extra hours to cover the gaps, the worry about being sent to work in ICU when you've had no training in that department. She has to leave her 2 girls at home alone (the eldest is a teenager) as one of them is in the at risk category. She said it's so hard trying to communicate with patients when you are masked up from top to toe and the PPE is so hot and makes you sweat.
This is just one nurse. All of the NHS staff and other frontline workers will have there own individual situations and stories.
It makes me angry when I hear people say - 'It's no worse than the flu' or even worse those that spout forth about Covid being a conspiracy. These people may end up eating their stupid words!
Today I'm doing a bit of drawing and a bit of knitting and in between having coffee and cake (I think my appetite is coming back!) and reading the Saturday Guardian. It usually takes me all week to read it!
I'm looking for some really good coloured pencils for when I'm sitting by the fire drawing. Any ideas anyone? We've got Derwent Inktense Water Colour pencils but I want some to use without water but with vibrant colours.
Time to put the kettle on now.
Enjoy your Sunday folks!
