The days are getting longer

Today’s blip was taken at 16.15 and there was still quite a bit of light which made me realise that the days are beginning to get longer, by roughly a minute a day I think.
The Christmas decorations came down a few hours early. I am not clear about whether you wait until 6 January, Epiphany, or late on the 5th to make it Twelve Night. We have no nativity related decorations which is a bit of waste because I am unequivocally clear that these remain until Candlemas on 2 February. English Heritage are somewhat confused and have suggested that this year we may want to leave all the decorations in place until February, to make us feel cheerful. I cannot think of any less cheery.
Apparently the Dog Walker is going to the dentist tomorrow (?????) so we are to entertain Islay which  will get me out and about. More freezing temperatures are forecast and I intend to wear socks over my boots as recommended by the Scottish Women’s  Walking Group, and endorsed by a study conducted in New Zealand.
