Good Things happen to Those that Wait
It felt a bit milder when I went out in the dark to get the paper and much of the remainder of the snow was just slush and there were huge puddles over the churned up grass of the Meadows.
I decided that it was time on 11th night to commit the Christmas tree to its box in the cupboard for another year.
It felt like a proper work out as I fought to tie it up into an oblong. I have a feeling (too late) that the tree is in 3 sections not two and that is why the foot of it remains sticking out of the box, but do you know what, I cannot even go there. Maybe next year if its lights still work, (which will give it a reprieve from recycling centre) I will investigate the 2nd join.
I will miss the lights twinkling during the long dark evenings of January but this Christmas time when nobody came into the house except Porty daughter for 4 hours on Christmas Day, the whole tree decoration seemed a bit pointless.
Taking advantage of the ice free streets in the city centre, I managed a circular walk in the morning and bought the warm lined waterproof jacket I had been hoping to get last month online but which was out of stock. The one I got today was the only one on the rail and must have been a return.
The cheese I went into the shop for was out of stock. You win some, you lose some!
