Winter Solstice

A wet murky day so there was no glimpse of the winter sun, nor the aligned planets, on this shortest day of the year.

We got out into the drizzle for two dog walks and I enjoyed an hour or so of very muddy digging at my allotment. Today I was seeking ‘conquer’ a few of the huge bramble root balls at the far end of the plot. I was, in part, successful but there is more to do!

A strange day as the news of the ever increasing number of closed borders with with the UK came in - an attempt to reduce the spread of the new strain of Coronavirus which appears to have originated in the south-east of England.

It is five years today since we lost Mum. It feels poignant it happened on the winter solstice. I think of her often but today more so. My blip today is therefore of Mum with her dog Jess (also a pointer like Merlin) on a visit when I lived in West Linton, Scottish Borders. I think the photo was taken in 2006. Happy days of walking and talking with frequent interludes for tea and cakes (0:

Hoping you’ve had some brightness of one kind or another in your day.

[back blipped].
