Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Becky and Daniel took Archie out this morning down to the Meadows on a nice sunny morning.

I thought about starting the DIY (painting) project, but the Sunday papers were more appealing. Though it’s all Bad News. The inevitable last minute U-turn on Christmas gatherings, thankfully. Strictest tier of lockdown for most of England, and a three week total lockdown on Boxing Day for Scotland. AND they’ve discovered a mutant super-Covid strain in the UK that is even more infectious than the original!!  Can things get any worse? It’s going to be a looong winter.

It was such a nice day that we thought we should take advantage of it and not do any inside jobs - there will plenty of wet days for that. We set off across the Meadows. We stopped at the cafe (outside, of course) with the delicious cardamom buns. My favourite coffee stop, Kauai, misses out - it’s a bit further on, and they don’t have nice chewy (unhealthy) buns.

JR went on into town, while Archie and I came back home, via a sit down and a yak with Rufus and his mum in the front garden. Rufus had his festive jumper on, and Archie was wearing his red jingle bell collar - which he is carefully hiding here - he hates it. Double whammy today - he also had to wear his halter.
