Adelphi Wharf

Out for a pre-work walk with the Minx, this morning, taking in both the rear of these new buildings at Adelphi Wharf and then viewing them later on from The Meadow, which nestles in the loop of the Irwell, which, on its outer edge, gives us The Crescent.

The construction guys were already out and working, and I wished I could have been a bit nearer the noises with a decent microphone and recorder. I love the richness of those BIG sounds.

I must find out more about the history of the Irwell because if these were the wharves then I can't understand why there's a weir just above them. Maybe this is as far as the boats and barges came? (It's at times like this that I miss Simon, who is a font of local knowledge.)
