1818

Searching for a blip today, I pulled off Highway 99 at Amity to walk through the pioneer cemetery in the cold, spitting rain. Maybe I was thinking about graveyards after our discussion in AP Lit today about Act V Hamlet, the cemetery scene. The only identity for the person deposited here is "E.G." in the upper left hand corner. But born in 1818...E.G. was 43 when the Civil War began, 47 when it ended.

Maybe it's morbid, but I love cemeteries. So much history.

"Alas, poor Yorick. I knew him, Horatio..."
