Mono Monday. : : Beaver Moon

The light from the full moon was quite dramatic seen through the silhouettes of the oak trees. Although their leaves turned brown early, fried by the fire, there are a lot still stubbornly clinging to the blackened branches. It makes quite a dramatic picture. The name 'beaver moon', given to the full moon in November, suggests that this is the time of year when the beavers in North America finish their dams and go into hibernation. I think I prefer the alternative...'.frost moon' although I don't know how those in the Southern Hemisphere feel about it. I like to remind myself of the fact that everyone on the planet is seeing the same moon although perhaps from a different angle or a different season.

It was also a lunar eclipse, although the freezing temperatures and the  wee hours of the night combined to make it an unappealing prospect.
The guys were back working on the fence again today but we had to halt progress when we realized that they didn't get the memo that we are rebuilding the old solid white wall in front. It would otherwise be a direct view from the street up to our bedroom door..

For such a small tree, the saga of our Christmas tree continues. We decided to bring it into the house because we like the smell, but John had to build a small table to lift it off the floor a bit. By  the time he did that and I delved around in my sewing room for some inpsiration for a new quilt commission we decided to take another break for contemplation. I didn't find much inspiration but I found some cute felted wool gnomes on the shelf where they have been lurking unnoticed for years, and put them at the foot of the tree where they looked quite charming.

Spike thought they were specially for him....

As Trump continues to ignore the desperate state of the nation's pandemic crisis and other pressing problems, and wreak havoc in every way he can think of (he really does seem increasingly deranged) I got this link from a friend. The situation isn't really funny but we must try to see some humor just to preserve our own sanity....
