'Carpet' Tile
The place was hopping this morning when we came home from our walk and coffee. David was here with Gustavo, who brought with him the tile for the bathroom. David said when he first saw them he was horrified because they are all different, but once he saw them all set up around the garage walls he realized how cool they were. I knew they were all different, part of their appeal, but was wondering how they would be installed. The name of the pattern is simply 'Carpet'. They defy description and don't even photograph very well, but I love them. I told Gustavo that I trusted his experience to figure out the best way to install them. We waited a long time for him to be available to do it.
We had to refer to 'inside' Gustavo and 'outside' Gustavo, for there was also a Gustavo working on the planting bed below our driveway which has been largely neglected since the fire burned just about everything in it. We have what we hope will be a low care, low water plan for it which he and Pedro will be helping us with.
All this and we hadn't even made it up the front steps yet. On the chair on the front porch was a large box and a small box. The large one contained a beautiful live wreath which we can't hang on the porch because it will fry, but we decided we would put it over the fireplace. It took us awhile to figure out that it came from our stockbroker! It makes it all the easier for us to talk ourselves out of getting a tree this year.
The small box contained my new iPhone* which I am looking forward to having, but not to transferring the data from the old phone. Kind of like still wanting to travel in the sense of being there, but not of getting there....The cunningly designed packaging is impressive. The obsession with design instead of actual useful features, which usually have to be purchased separately, makes it all the more amusing that they do include a little tool for taking out the sim card, instead of using a humble paper clip. But who is ever going to remember what they did with it?
