Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

I'm still standing.......

I was up early this morning to give the girls breakfast and take them to school /nursery. Katy has an early meeting and Jon was on nights, I'm so glad I'm nearby I don't know what they'd do otherwise! They were on their best behaviour and quite lovely.... nothing at all to do with the chocolate croissants I had taken them for a special treat I'm sure!
We dropped off Eilidh first at school then Isobel at nursery, she stood quite happily to have her temperature taken on the way in, what a strange time we live in.
I made the most of being up early and went into Lidl to take advantage of one of their black Friday deals. I bought a Vax cordless vacuum. I've wanted one for ages for the stairs and the Vax had a very good review in Which. Their only complaint was that the battery is non renewable but the vacuum cost me £99, a different brand would have cost around £200 with replacement batteries around £55, so I reckoned I could have two of the Vax machines and still be ahead!
I went into Stockbridge for an amble through the charity shops, and spotted this very late sunflower next to three others, small flower but looking very strong still, in spite of the time of year.
I wanted to find some new games for the girls now they are a little older and was delighted to find an old set of Guess Who in one shop. I think they'll both enjoy that. I also found a nice Reiss dress for Ali who is also very pleased at my shopping.
I put the new vacuum beast together when I got home, Don't you just hate these instructions which are just lots of pictures! I managed though and on first appearances I'm very impressed with its performance, it's not light weight though.
We watched part 3 of His Dark Materials this evening, I'm more or less understanding what is going on I think. Dust = Dark Matter. Lyra eats popcorn in a cinema even though she doesn't like it, I'm a bit like that myself!

Stay safe and well everybody. I guess the mail companies are going to be quids in this Christmas.
