Follow You, Follow Me

This is my homage to fellow blipper, dunkyc, who introduced me to the app. If you follow him you will note more than a passing resemblance to one of his photos from a couple of days ago. It took a little while to work out where he had taken his photo but I couldn’t replicate it exactly due to differences in time of day, weather, camera used, etc.
And that’s what I like about photographs. They really are a moment in time, captured for posterity. No matter how hard you try it is not possible to replicate that moment.
And I think that’s a good life lesson as well. Look back on the past by all means, but attempting to recreate a moment usually ends in disappointment. Even worse is to start agonising over what could have been done differently. You can’t change the past so don’t waste emotional energy fretting about it. Learn from any “mistakes” - maybe you’ll act differently if those circumstances occur again - but use the experience in a positive way to shape your future, as that IS something you can change.
It might only be a small act - maybe even just a word - but the consequences down the years could be quite big.
I know it all seems a bit “Groundhog Day”ish at the moment, because of Covid, but each day is different in many ways and we do have choices we can make. It might be as simple as “do I go for a run before or after lunch?” or it might be as complex as deciding on a change of career. Either way, those decisions, once made, will shape the future - to a greater or lesser extent - as you want it. But going through life looking over your shoulder to the past means that you’ll always be followed by “bad” decisions and you’ll be unable to see the opportunities and choices up ahead.
Make a choice, see it through, don’t regret it, move forward. Simples.
