Walking for hours with 'Bertie the Beardie'

Normally when I go for a walk with 'Bertie the Beardie' we walk for 2-3 hours. Today we walked for almost 6 hours!!!

We left our house at 8am and went to Bertie's house to pick him up, then we walked up to the top of Craiglockhart Hill and down the other side, down Craiglockhart Ave to Slateford and then all the way along the Waters of Leith to Balerno. The plan was; get a bus back from Balerno but the humans were having such a nice walk they decided to walk back too.

This is a Blip of me and Bertie waiting outside the church in Balerno. It was the only place the humans could find to have a coffee, but once they'd ordered their coffees they sat outside with us because it was actually quite warm. Bertie's owner ordered two scones; one for herself and one to take home to her husband, but guess what happened?.................... She ate the fruit scone herself and fed most of the cheese scone to me and Bertie because neither of us had had any breakfast and we were hungry. She said she had chocolate cake at home for her husband so he'd never know that we ate his scone!

Walked back along the Waters of Leith to Colinton and when we reached Spylaw Park we both had to go into the river to get clean. I was most definitely the dirtiest dog because I was constantly running around all over the place and rolling on my back when I found stinky things to roll in. Bertie just plods along in good dog mode. Ann reckons the humans walked at least 12 miles today but I probably did double that because I was off my lead for most of the time and I never stop running.

Jumped on a no 16 bus at Colinton and came home, but by that time it was almost 2pm so we both had breakfast cos we hadn't had any before we went out and then we both snoozed for the next couple of hours. Ann woke me up at about 4.30pm and said I had to go for a little 'toileting walk' around the block. It was very cold. The temperature really drops once it gets dark.

Oh and Ann was due to go to the gym and swim this afternoon at 2pm so obviously she cancelled that. So much for our new routine. Lol!

Anyway we both enjoyed our walk today, so thank you 'Bertie the Beardie' and your lovely owner for coming on such a nice walk with us. xx
