Sally Mair - Loving life

Orchids

This beauty is just one of the four flower shoots on the orchid Ali brought me for our anniversary in July. She walked over from Corstorphine carrying it in her arms and with Marvin on his lead and a bottle of wine in her backpack. It's survived remarkably well and has a very unusual flower colouring.
Today I had a call from Jon telling me how much the girls were looking forward to their two days with us at the weekend and that Eilidh's was quote, Looking forward to doing lots of Hallowe'en baking with Grandma! Gulp, was I organised…? No, I was not!
I spy down to Lidl then B&M bargains but there were no hallowe'en specific items left, so I stocked up with lots of edible nonsense and we're just going to have to adapt. I thought that fairy cakes might take a while to cool off ready to decorate, likewise fresh gingerbread m̶e̶n̶ witches, so I bought some ready made fairy cakes and made up the contents of a ginger biscuits mix. I feel a little more ready now (see extra). There will be plenty left over too for our next baking occasion. I found a recipe for cheese and pumpkin scones online so we'll be giving that a go too!
Back home I made the biscuits so they are ready for decorating tomorrow.
Hoping to catch up with the next episode of Roadkill after dinner tonight.

Keep safe and well everybody
