Sally Mair - Loving life

Groundhog Day?

Had a WhatsApp messaging conversation with my cousin, who lives in Thailand, this morning. . We are more or less the same age and he grew up here in Blackhall and so we were always close. He moved to Thailand around 30 years ago and is well settled there now with a wife and son. They seem to be doing OK there, the country's borders are all closed.
Sad to hear Sean Connery has died. One of the first films I saw was Goldfinger at the now defunct Astoria Cinema in Corstorphine. It was either that or Mary Poppins which I saw from the back of the balcony at the Empire...can't remember which I saw first. The idea of jumping off the extremely high balcony at the Empire and floating down with an umbrella seemed a distinct possibility!
The top picture in today's collage is Kathryn and I in 1985, she is younger than both of her children are in today's shot.
Katy dropped the girls off at 8am this morning, she and Jon are both working this weekend, so we're on duty. They arrived with a big bag of Halloween things and I had stocked up well too - as in yesterday's extra. The weather has been foul so we didn't go and do the local Hallowe'en trail around Davidson's Mains and Silverknowes. Instead they had a good play for a couple of hours and then we got stuck into the pumpkins. They had a small one each as the big ones had sold out. To be honest two small ones was much easier. I couldn't get much of the flesh out though so cheese and pumpkin scones, the second activity of the day, became cheese scones (Bat and Pumpkin shaped of course).
I had pizza lined up for lunch but they're having that for tea so we had sausages and beans and the pizza will do tomorrow. They won't complain!
This afternoon they turned the gingerbread men I had made yesterday into Halloween themed biscuits. Much fun was had!
I took the girls home at around 4.30, by which time their Dad had finished work and was on his way home again.
While I was there one of the neighbours popped by and dropped off some sweets for the girls in lieu of them going guising.

We're having a carry out tonight as I'm lacking in energy.

Keep safe everybody no matter where you are. Sounds as if England is heading for lockdown, we're hoping that the measures taken at the end of September in Scotland may help us to avoid it.
