Splish Splash

In spite of the clocks going back, it was still dark outside at 8 o’clock due to the vast amount of rain falling.
No real option then other than to do another of those jobs I’ve been putting off for a while - replacing the seals on the screens over the bath. Not that they’d really been leaking when using the shower but, as you can see from the photo, they were definitely past their best!
The replacements are definitely not as well made as the originals, but they do look considerably better. Whether they’ll last as long, only time will tell, but they probably won’t have to as we’re planning on replacing the bath with a large walk in shower sometime in the next decade.
For now though, I’ve not thrown the old seals away. The big test will come tomorrow morning - can the new ones withstand the soaking of a couple of showers without any drops escaping?
But that job does complete the light renovation of the bathroom which started this time last year when the heated towel rail was replaced. Never let it be said that we rush things. We had hoped to do a lot more work on the house this year - replaster ceilings, new internal woodwork and doors, new carpets throughout and much more, but Covid put paid to that. The decision now has to be made as to whether we try again next year or accept that it’s not going to happen anytime soon and just settle for patching and painting the worst bits to tide us over. I remain the optimist.....
