Walking With the Birds
Spring arrived for the day this morning.
As it is possibly a flash in the pan, and may not return again for a while, we tried to make the most of the balmy temperature and lack of any whisper of breeze by walking through the Aberlady Nature Reserve after the obligatory stop at the Gosford Farm shop to buy some wild boar sausages stuffed with apple, and yes I confess I let my guard down by having a slice of gingerbread.
We were not the only ones with a similar idea judging by the number of cars parked by the roadside out of Aberlady.
The tide was out and Fife was indistinct behind a blue haze. The familiar red gas tanker was anchored in the Forth awaiting orders. I think there must be a family of them with similar livery, because there always seems to be one on hand.
In the distance it was just possible to see the indistinct outline of Arthur's Seat and in front, Cockenzie Power Station with dirty smoke rising vertically in the absence of any wind.
It was a perfect day to be outside and to notice the green buds on the trees and the spring flowers waiting to burst into life, just as long as we don't revert to winter temperatures again.
