Fur Coats..........
The phrase 'fur coats and nae drawers' often applied to the genteel citizens of Edinburgh, might also apply to buildings such as this with a posh frontage to Princes Street but possessing a back view of squalor better suited to a sink estate.
These back lanes behind the main city thoroughfare with its arresting views of castle and gardens, are surfaced with cobbles so askew and dangerous that walking on them is difficult, and I would think impossible in high heels.
But with all the dubious paraphernalia attached to walls and the general run down atmosphere, there would be many and varied blipping opportunities were it not for the plethora of different coloured rubbish bins and delivery vans which clog the lanes and the view.
It's hard not to compare the wide open snowy vistas of the last few days with today's dirty urban scene, but at the end of the day, home is where the heart is. We'll readjust.
