Home for lunch
As I noted in yesterday's blip, Buddism is very important in Burma and every male believer must spend time as a novice monk. We visited both a monastry and a convent yesterday and it was explained to us that the monks rely on donations of food for their meals, they have 2 meals a day, breakfast and lunch.
This blip shows a group of monks hurrying back for lunch after collecting donations from a suburb of Rangoon clutching their containers of food which will be shared out. Novices can be as young as 3 or 4, but only the slightly older ones are allowed out to forage like this.
