Pagodas and Temples
We travelled to Bagan, a small town north of Rangoon, situated on the bank of Burma's largest river the Irrawaday.
Bagan used to be known as Pagan and, in the 11th and 12th centuries, was the capital of Burma. At that time it was immensely rich through trade. The King converted to Buddism and this set off an orgy of religious building. The King started it, and was followed by nobles and rich merchants so much so that there are now around 2,000 temples of various sizes littering the plain around the town.
This blip was taken just as the sun had set.
