High tide

Another grey day was brightened in the late afternoon by the sight of a song thrush resting briefly in the treetop at the foot of our garden. Luckily it was not the tree that we spent part of the morning severely pruning!

In the afternoon we walked to get warm as despite the welcome lack of wind it was still chilly. The tide was high and the beach and promenade were full of families observing the “don’t meet in your own homes” ruling. Social distancing was generally excellently observed.

We had lovely harvest video messages from our Gloucestershire grandchildren. Our plan to visit them there this week was against the advice of the FM. We are being dutiful citizens but not finding that conscientiousness at all easy. Who does?

As a former teacher I am struggling to comprehend the mindless murder of one of our French colleagues in Paris.
