Never park

illegally in Spain, as your car will be towed away. Whoever the owner was of the car that was parked in this spot got a huge surprise when he went to get in his car to find it gone and this notice stuck on the pavement.

If you are illegally parked, the police will come along, phone the grua (breakdown truck) the car gets towed away, they leave you this polite notice, you then have to phone the number, ascertain where they have taken the car, then go and pay the fine before you can drive away.

I am paranoid about not parking on yellow lines, we also have a strange rule in some streets between the 1st and 15th of the month you can park on the left side of the road, then between the 16th and 31st you park on the right hand side of the road, and if you are parked on the wrong side, guess what, you get towed away.
