Diary of an Edinburgher

A successful shopping expedition

A sunny morning lured JR out for a run. Well, a jog. She hasn’t done that for ages, preferring to go to the gym, but I think the gym might be a distant memory again soon. She had her breakfast outside and it was so sunny Archie needed to wear sunnies too.

Archie and I sat outside until the hooligans, sorry, schoolchildren, walked by to the shops with their usual yelling, pushing and shoving, dropping litter and bad language. Charming.

Libby came to take Archie out, but by that time I had gone into town. I had been working up to shoe shopping. I need some winter shoes/boots. I do not like shoe shopping.

I walked in via my favourite cafe and popped in for an oat milk flat white, ordered on my phone, which spurred me on down town.

And would you believe it - the first shop I went into I made two purchases - slippers for me and a cute pair of shoes pumps for JR, because they were SO cute. And cheap. Archie examined them and wondered why they were covered in CATS! (Extra)

Spurred on by this success (they gave me a wee ‘back pack’ bag to carry the two shoeboxes in), I went to JR’s long-time favourite shoe shop, and chose a shoe there. But no, they didn’t have my size... but she brought me a pair a bit like them, but better. I hadn’t seen them! And they’re perfect.

They have side zips, which are the more acceptable version of Velcro straps- I’m not quite ready for them yet.

I’ll wear my new shoes/boots tomorrow. We’re going on an adventure. And we’ll be back home just in time before the First Minister’s new restrictions which begin at 7pm.
