New arrivals
JR has a cold. She cancelled the gym, so it really has slowed her down quite a bit. A long lie in had been prescribed this morning (by me), which was agreed to. But the phone went at 8am. It was the sofa delivery chaps, informing us that they’d be with us by 9am. Action stations!
And they were. Two cheery chaps, who must be very fit, bustled in, handling the heavy sofas like they were mere toys, cracking jokes all the way (but with their broad Scots accents I didn’t catch all of it, and JR just hadn’t a clue, but chuckled along anyway).
The sofas are gorgeous. Very comfy. But there will have to be new rules - Are you listening, Archie? NO jumping up with wet/muddy paws. These do not have removable, washable covers, unlike their predecessors - they don’t seem to make them like that any more.
Hazel came over for coffee to be the first visitor to sit on the sofas. She was coming over this evening for drinkies to christen them with bubbles, but she’s got a cold as well, so the evening do was cancelled. She has done two COVID tests, as she’s been in London recently, and had a night out this week with her ex-staff, so wanted to be sure she was clear.
I’ve taken Archie out three times today (5,968 steps). In the afternoon we went to the cemetery. We also went to get JR some ‘Vitamin C’, but the chemist recommended lemon and honey instead, which she’s been taking anyway.
I rang the vet to ask if the return visit they prescribed a fortnight ago for the sore paw was included in the £180 (£235 with medicine) cost. No, it’d be another £44. I told them he was fine, and he didn’t need to come in, thanks.
