Hythe

First thing, we had a walk down to the end of the Dungeness Peninsula, to enjoy views of the lighthouses, the power station and the vast beach.

Later we drove up to Hythe, for a stroll along the prom and lunch in a cafe (kippers, scallops, etc) where I had to take a few shots of the people fishing against the backdrop of the sunny sea. Who knew there is a coastal canal here - the Royal Military Canal?

Then we threw caution to the winds and crossed the frontier into Sussex, to visit the lovely hilltop town of Rye, where the shop fronts are unlike anywhere else.  We went on to Winchelsea, specifically to see the grave of Spike Milligan, which includes an inscription in Gaelic meaning "I told you I was ill."
