zoo babies
This is the newest reticulated giraffe at our Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. She was born just three days ago! And she's the smallest newborn they've ever had, weighing in at a mere 116 pounds (newborn giraffes are usually 150-200 pounds), and standing only 5 1/2 feet (newborns are often 6 feet tall). Her name will be revealed when she is one month old. Here she is nursing.
In extras, I posted a six month old male mountain lion, named Koda, that the zoo procured when he was just 2 months old. He was found abandoned on a logging road in Washington State. After being quarantined, and then introduced to our two older mountain lions in private, he has finally joined them on exhibit.
The last extra is probably not a baby, but it is new to swimming in this exhibit. It is an African penguin, and apparently they are very shy about getting into the water.
