Quod oculus meus videt

The Opening Bowler

I normally concentrate on the batsmen when taking photos of cricket matches but on this occasion I thought it appropriate to highlight the bowler who had clean bowled three of the first four batsmen of the local team.  In a 40 over match, he had swung the tide in favour of the visitors on a slow pitch which was proving difficult to time the ball.

I'd been chatting to his father, who was fielding at fine leg while his son bowled, then bowling the alternate overs.  You could just feel the pride coming from him as the wickets fell.  While I didn't wait for the conclusion to the game I'd expect they went on to win, though as we know in cricket, nothing is a foregone conclusion.

The game has changed since my days playing, not least the little bottle of anti-bacterial gel behind the stumps, which had to be applied to the fielding sides hands every five overs.

Day Miles:  2.1 miles. Total Miles: 1,071.1 miles
