Shopping
There were two different half price dining chairs at our favourite shop, so we had to pop in this morning to choose. JR walked in, while I took the bus (and tram). It was handy, because Becky and Daniel came to take Archie out - and were warned to look out for a big black hairy dog, Bobby, in case Archie took off again. But no, he got a good report. And they popped him back in to the house, where his peanut butter stuffed bone was waiting for him.
Town looked very busy today. The tour buses were busy, the Royal Mile was mobbed, and the Gardens were full of people sitting around enjoying the nice weather.
After our purchase, we wandered back through St Andrew Square. The ‘portrait’ mode on the iPhone gets a bit confused with what should be out of focus, with often the stem of the main subject disappearing. Along to Prêt for a coffee (and pastry) which we took down to sit in the Gardens. Oh, and a couple of bags of licorice were purchased.
I took the bus back home (JR walked - she’s obsessed with her step count) and actually, I had just got in and sat down, when she arrived! She’s fast? Yes, but city traffic is SO slow.
Elizabeth popped in too for a cuppa. And she suggested taking Archie out for the afternoon so that we could go out on the bikes, which have been ignored for a while - rain this last week being a good excuse.
And so we took them out - just down to the Links, where we tootled around for a wee while, but I’m afraid I wasn’t very relaxed. I have the seat slightly lower, but this makes it uncomfortable (in one knee) to pedal properly - I’m not sure how I’d cope on a longer ride. I’m just so nervous now, even on the grass, but the nerves are jangling even worse on the road. However, we’ll give them a go this week on either the reservoir paths or Cramond waterfront.
Two barbecues on the go out in the back green this afternoon. The lads upstairs and the neighbours, so we popped out to chat to both lots, and it was lucky (for them) that Archie was out for the day.
We’ve discovered a new health food cafe/restaurant which has just opened. It originated in South Africa, is world wide, and looks excellent!
