A bit of cabaret, circus, jazz, and accordion

{Back-blipping this post from Saturday, February 9, 2013}

Cabaret, circus, jazzy, rootsy Americana, all brought to life with the heavy breathing of an accordion and strident pluckings of a banjo, would be how I'd summarize this Saturday evening show put together by the very creative talents of Mark Growden. (at left, in this photo)

I'd never been inside the "Cirque Lab" performance space before, home to our own Bellingham Circus Guild. Initially, I thought it might be too open and cavernous for this performance, but --- it worked. A local group playing bluegrassy tunes as well as another young woman, whose name I unfortunately cannot remember, warmed the crowd up before Growden came on. There really is no end to the assortment and supply of talent in this little town!
