Almost!

This is almost a celebration, as we are almost there.

Everyone knows about our rubbish broadband, how we have been left out over and over again, how we have watched fibre connections being made all around us. It is why we cannot stream anything with any confidence, even if we wanted to. It is why I cannot use my Flickr account as photos take so long to upload. It is why often it takes age to post to Blip.

There has been a sort of system, which was put in place by local people as an interim measure, but it wasn't that much better, certainly not for us where our house is, so we resisted joining it.

And now, after years of campaigning, involving MPs, local authority officers, the end is in sight - we have been given the opportunity to have a fibre network delivered to the village through a Community Fibre Scheme. It just needs enough people to sign up for the service - each household gets a voucher worth £3,000, each business gets a voucher worth £7,000. When we get to £250,000, work can start.

It is amazing that in less than a week, our village has almost done it. This was how it stood this afternoon - almost there!! I cannot express how pleased I am.
