A Full Day

VJ75
In normal circumstances Falmouth Town Council would have been expected to take the lead in organising the towns commemoration of VJ Day, so special a day this year.
Given the circumstances I thought it might be prudent for the Royal Naval Association to take it on and I have quite enjoyed doing so. Despite numbers limited to mainly Veterans and the Mayor & Mayoress.

I laid the 117 Poppy Crosses bearing the names of those from Falmouth on its WWII Roll of Honour yesterday, printed off the programmes and got my kit ready.

So to today, the sun shone, the parade went well, I laid my wreath on behalf of the RNA, Joshua laid one on behalf of the RBL, Clare on behalf of the Association of WRNS and Sam took the photographs.

Good to catch up with friends.

We then headed off out;
Joshua’s Last Full Day
Cream Teas for all at Miss V’s Tea Room
A Father & Son quiet moment in the churchyard of St Just In The Roseland
More cake from Miss v’s
On to Porthluney Beach where we swam and relaxed
Back to Falmouth for a takeaway dinner from the Meat Counter eaten in the sunshine at Pendennis Point.

Home for a quiet night before tomorrow’s early start.
