Family
We all leave home or ‘fly the nest’ at some point, for the overwhelming majority it’s to a similar house to their parents in the same village, town or city.
Others, like Samantha and Joshua, go further afield so over the last four weeks Clare and I have enjoyed having both children home, Samantha home from university, three years of hard work rewarded with her degree, more confident, more assured a joy to be around.
I look at Joshua and see still my boy, coming in from his paper round not the soldier he has become so as he sets off for his 700+ mile journey back to barracks, a complete day in his car, we revert back from four to three.
Sam took herself off on her bike, when she reached Maenporth, in her words, “the rain was of biblical proportions”, she arrived home looking like a drowned rat.
