Sally Mair - Loving life

Gallery two

TODAY WAS SUNNY
Well at least in the morning, the afternoon was a bit more cloudy but very warm.
We met up with Joan for coffee for the first time this year at Gallery two, one of the modern art galleries in Edinburgh. The gallery and its cafe are both still closed but there is a pop up coffee van on the terrace. Every body was being very Edinburgh, masks on, socially distanced, sevens had brought picnic chairs to sit on too. I brought a picnic rug (extra). It was so nice to be out in the sunshine.
This building started life as an orphanage, in my lifetime I remember it being the Do(mestic science) school, Dean Education Centre - where I did lots of inservice courses and my woodwork night classes and latterly the art gallery which hosts most of the Paolozzi collection - not that I saw that today of course. I was very amused that the cafe is here at gallery two but the toilets are behind gallery one, probably a good half mile round trip away, you wouldn't want to be caught short!
We spent the afternoon reading in the garden and hanging out two loads of washing both of which got dry before a shower of rain at about 9pm. We watched A Suitable Boy, looks like being good.

Keep safe everybody we really don't want to have to go back into lock down. We're doing so well although the number of new cases is creeping up a little. I'm not sure how many days it is since we had a death from the virus in Scotland but I think it's over two weeks now which is wonderful.
