Lunch Break

Wednesday has been a million miles better than Tuesday, thank goodness.
 
I had another day in the Office. I suppose one topical issue – but not directly affecting our location – is a cluster of 20 virus cases in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, because it illustrates how quickly things can unravel.
 
15 of the cases are people who work in a call centre. 393 other staff there have been tested and are not infected, but it shows how many could have been infected by those 15. Five close contacts (probably family) of those 15 employees have also tested positive.
 
Five other locations have been inspected as part of the test and trace operation – reading between the lines, the places where the 5 close contacts work. They are 3 pubs, a local outlet of a well known coffee shop brand, and a fashion shop. The shop is in Glasgow and the other places are more local to Bellshill. Again, it shows how the virus could spread among customers and other staff. It turns out the hygiene and PPE in those places is good, so the risks are reduced.   
 
The supreme irony is the call centre (run by a private company) is contracted to carry out CV 19 contact tracing for Public Health England’s test and trace operation. 

Fingers crossed that the hot spot has been controlled. 

It has rained all day, which limits Blip opportunities, so it is lunch. Cheese from Mull. Oatcakes from Benbecula. Venison salami from Roy Bridge (Fort William-ish). The butter is organic, from the Calon Wen co-operative in Wales. The water is from my kitchen tap.
