How times have changed

After having a late tea (for us anyway), we sat and watched 3 episodes of the BBC comedy "The League of Gentlemen" and then set about tidying the house, as it has become a bit untidy since my return from Cornwall on Sunday. I only unpacked last night, and the bits and bobs of sentimental memorabilia, such as the hood ornaments, tobacco tins with bits and bobs, little ornaments and such like have been sat on the kitchen table since Sunday night.

I opened up the case that contained my Uncle Jim's binoculars, so that I could have a look to see what I need to do to clean them up properly, and in the bottom of the case came across 3 mint condition stamps (one from Fiji, one from Budapest and one from Sharjah and Dependancies ...BM, I think you will probably know more than I do currently about these) - Corin is going to add them to his collection of mint stamps so they will be looked after.

I also found this little card - 10cm x 7 cm ...a 30 year old piece of history ....an explanation that the radio stations were changing frequency on November 23 1978 - I was 5 and a half yrs old then!!!! No FM stereo ...the excitement was over changing to new medium wave and long wave frequencies. In the days before DAB and FM Stereo.

Which linked in to a conversation we had at work today about how the heck we all managed in the days before mobile phones, satellite tv, remote control everything and the internet...

Maybe people talked more?! And got out more.

Says she....sat at her computer!
