mercy

another proper goodbye today, as mercy leaves for lusaka tomorrow to start her further education. i'm so thankful for the chance to catch up with people before i leave and i think having this project has definitely helped!

i met mercy in school a few years ago where we hung out while she told me her story. i'm still amazed that out of such a background emerged such a beautiful, confident and joyous young woman. obviously i was eager to have mercy to join our intern programme and we have watched as she has became more and more confident in the giftings that God has given her. i must admit that i had more than a tear in my eye when i watched her share her story, openly and honestly, with her peers in school. it was one of the bravest things i've experienced and there is no doubt that she touched many lives that day.

there are a few young people who i am super excited about following over the next few years to see where how they progress, mercy is one of them. i can't wait to hear her story in a few years time.

what a star.

(i'm taking a break from my normal blipping routine and from now until i leave i will be posting portraits of the people that i love here in zambia. i might put them all together at the end to make a mammoth picture to hang on my wall, but mostly they will stay here on blip so i can remember these lovely people.)
