WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

By lizzie_birkett

Overworked!

But not quite finished! That's what my little painting is! My problem is I don't know when to stop; a tweek here a tweek there and then I end up having to go over bits and redo them. So between looking at it over critically and waiting for the paint to dry so I can fix things it's taken me ages!
I've learnt a few things through this exercise though and hope that if I do anymore I'll be more relaxed about it.
I'm not too happy with the very fine brushes I bought as they don't go to a fine point when the paint is on, they splay out which is no good for doing facial features. I ended up using a fine felt tip!
Anybody with recommendations for oil brushes?

Anyway I spoke to Sue today and told her about the oil paint taking so long to dry and she suggested I try acrylic paint instead.

I've also realised how bad my eyesight is for close up work - I'll make an appointment for the opticians 8-) New specs will be good for when I'm sewing too.

In other news, the massive sleepers Frank ordered for the path were delivered this morning while Frank was out with Bella and I was in the shower.
I flung my dressing gown on and stuck my head out of the bedroom window, "Sorry, I'm in the shower!"
"D'you want me to come up and scrub yer back!" Came the reply :-D)))
I got dressed quickly and went down to help him lift the sleepers down.

Frank has been working hard all day - sometimes in the rain - digging up the path to lay the sleepers along the sides, the he'll put the flags in between.

More fat quarters arrived today! I want to put the paints away now and get back in my comfort zone with fabrics ;-)

It's quite cold here today and has been raining on and off.
It feels more like autumn than midsummer.

I've just heard the Scottish First Minister say that wearing face masks will become mandatory from next week in shops and other indoor places and the the 5 mile travel restrictions will be lifted - except in certain postcodes in Dumfries and Galloway
:-(. She also warned people not to go over the border to visit English pubs. Would people really be that stupid? The answer is sadly Yes!

As for Donald Trumpy bum, he said he tried a mask on and thought he looked OK. He kinda liked the way he looked -
Aaaaaaargh! What is he on about? It isn't about looking good :-0 . Anyway wearing a mask could only improve his looks - better a full facial one!

That's all - enjoy your evening :-)X
