First Roses

I picked the first of our David Austen roses. The scent is just gorgeous.

I had a zoom with Book Group 2 this morning. By the time I joined one member was in full flow, not about the book which was her choice, but about her controversial views about the virus. In her opinion it should have been left to go its course regardless of the impact on NHS, deaths, etc. Her reasoning was that the impact on the economy is too serious. This forum was not the place for such a discussion - it is difficult on zoom to discuss anything for a start. Lilian’s Story was a great book to discuss - but we just had to mute and take a turn with our observations. We couldn’t pick up and comment on each other’s views which was a shame as we all had a lot to say.

Straight after we’d logged out Shona rang as she was upset by the meeting.

It’s been another cold and grey day. I meant to go for a walk but decided to read my next book ‘Olive Kitterage’. Then I knitted and listened to podcasts. Very relaxing.

Further easing of lockdown. Zoos and shops to open and a person living in her/his own can visit and stay with one other household in a bubble. There’s 2 of us so we can’t get anyone into our house. Prof Chris Whitty is not encouraging about the situation yet.
