LOCK DOWN – DAY 75

Well...................... after frittering away all of yesterday, Ann said that we had to be more positive today. She's made us a new rule........................ Apparently if it's not sunny enough for us to sit on the balcony then we are going to go on a big long walk. Even if it's raining. This morning it wasn't sunny enough for us to sit on the balcony so off we went on a big long walk.

We went on a 7 mile trek around the city because Ann wanted to see if it was getting any busier. (Those of you who follow her on FB can see her photos of Edinburgh in lock down). To be honest it was still pretty quiet in the centre of town. And why wouldn't it be? Everything is still closed. It's the 'drive thru' takeaways and coffee shops where the hoards of people are.

I had to spend a lot of time on my lead. However I had a lovely run about on the Meadows with a little puppy and then I got some more run about time when we went up Carlton Hill (in this Blip). We also walked along the Union Canal. We saw some baby swans that were lovely and fluffy but unfortunately I was on my lead so I couldn't go chasing. The mummy swan hissed at me!!!

We walked for about two and a half hours and when we got home, guess what?................. Mr Sunshine was out, so we spent the afternoon on the balcony. Yay!

Oh and my human needs to have a teeny, weeny RANT here.......................

She is getting absolutely fed up of hearing about 'students' who seem to think it's OK to move between 'households'. She's heard so many stories about students who have moved back home, but then are missing their boyfriend/girlfriend, so go and live with them for a while in a student house with a load of other people. And then move back home again. That is NOT allowed but none of them seem to be getting caught and fined??!!!

All my human wants to do, is go down to our house in Cornwall, in the car by herself (with me obv), stay in her own house, by herself (with me obv), and get it spruced up for when we can hopefully accept summer visitors. We haven't been to Cornwall since December and need to get our very sunny sun terrace walls & decking repainted and all our pots sorted out. And yes, we could just pay someone to do that because to be honest it's going to cost us a lot to actually drive from Scotland to Cornwall. BUT............... it's our house and we want to be there. ….............And if all these students can move between two households with no comeback, then why can't we?????

This whole lock down thing is just getting a bit silly now. People are breaking the rules, right, left & centre. Ann has a couple of friends in England (here in Scotland we can only drive 5 miles) who are visiting their parent's (who live about an hour and a half away) once a week. You're not telling me that in a 3 hour round trip and however long they spend with their parent's (and I'm sure they don't just sit in the garden), they haven't been into the house to use the toilet?

This whole lock down thing is so unfair on so many levels........................ My human is getting really fed up with the number of people who have been furloughed on full pay but are now working in another job. Ann knows at least three people who are getting their normal salary but are also working in another job. And obviously as no one is spending as much as they normally would, these people are now talking about booking themselves a super duper holiday once this is all over. …...........And because our Cornish property is registered as a 'second home' and not a business then we can't claim any government grants. And because my human is self employed as a 'meet & greeter' but her earnings aren't more than half of her annual income then she can't claim anything there either.

Oh dear......................... This weeny, teeny RANT seems to be turning into a big major RANT. Better stop now.

We've both had a lovely day today. See you all tomorrow.

Toodles xxxx
