Goodnight Budgies

These beautiful birds are Coryn and Hermes, Liz's budgies. Liz is on a walking holiday in the Lake District this weekend, so I've popped into her room to turn the light off and let them sleep. There is a slight danger that if I don't do that, they'll chatter to each other all night, whereas they generally go very quiet when it's dark.

An individual budgie has such a range of vocalisations that it can make simultaneously, that a pair of budgies can easily sound like about six. We think they're gossiping with other versions of themselves in parallel universes.
