Is this a Sign I’ve waited for?

Had I been born a little less cynical and a bit more fey, I might have imagined this small lone cloud in an otherwise blue sky to be a sign from the His late Lordship reminding me that it was this very day 2 years ago that we learned he had inoperable pancreatic cancer and had only 6 months to live. There was a ghastly summer to follow this news and while it still seems like yesterday, so much has happened in the intervening time, but no soul mate for me to share it with.

People ask how he would have coped with lockdown and I think the answer is well. He was happy in his own company with lots of hobbies on the go and it would have been so lovely to have him here with me.

However, cynic that I am, I can see it is just a little bit of cloud that hung around in an otherwise windless blue sky and provided me with a blip into the bargain on another hot day.
Many years ago in the dark ages of the 60s, Scotland regularly got a heatwave in May, just about exam time. Holidays in the Highlands were so hot for perhaps a fortnight that foreign holidays were not sought even if they had been widely available.

Yesterday Sturgeon loosened the lockdown in Scotland allowing the meeting outside of up to 8 people from two families. The trouble is that the young student age people in the area decided they were immune from the curtailing of social contact so when a * gathering of 20 of them camped inside the railings, where no police roam, and had a very noisy get together fuelled by drink and lots of hugging, I became the bad fairy and called the concierge.
Presumably they dispersed to the other side of the railings where the rest of that age group were en masse indulging in similar behaviour. If this new leeway is going to work , then there might have to be penalties for those choosing to flout the rules to this extent. Otherwise we will be back where we started.
