Moorland Birds
A change of scenery was required this afternoon. A short trip onto Levisham Moor and a walk to Skelton Tower. I was surprised at how many birds we either saw or heard. The first was what I believe to be a Stonechat flitting across the newly emerging Bracken. The Highland cows and their calves were just a bit too far away to get a decent shot. Further along we heard our first Cuckoo of the year on the edge of Pickering Forest. Skylarks were busy tending their nests.
Just as we got back to the car spotted a Wheatear but couldn’t get a decent photo before it disappeared.
A lovely change from our local woodland. Quite a few cars but a lot were sat enjoying the sunshine rather than walking.
Enjoy your weekends
