Went on a fruitless quest to find Dragonflies this afternoon. No sign but did find love was in the air for the Damselflies. Quite liked the way they hid behind the reeds to do the deed! Only red Damselflies in this area near the flood works.

I ended up being spoilt for choice. Dippers were swooping in the stream but I had little chance of catching a photograph. Then on the way home spotted a Grey Wagtail looking for food at the weir. Followed by a Goldfinch posing near the castle. However the Damselflies Won the day.

We stayed close to home today believing the coast would be far too busy. This was confirmed by the constant drone of traffic on the Whitby road as we walked up the valley.
