Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Tree Peony

I bought this a number of years ago and it has developed into a substantial bush which successfully blocks the path at the side of the house, which I guess means I need to cut it back! The flowers are a wonderful rich red, darker than the traditional peony colour and they don't last as long either. Pretty though.
Today I went for a walk first thing, managed to miss the showers which was good. When I got home somebody was advertising some tomato seedlings on the area Facebook group, turns out her house almost backs on to ours, I've been admiring their new dormer windows! I was delighted to have half a dozen seedlings as I hadn't got around to planting any. I went round and picked them up and in fact there were about three times as many so I'll pass some on for K and the girls to grow. I planted them up when I got them home and transplanted some beans into their permanent trough.
The slugs and snails don't seem to have read the same book as me, they don't realise they are not meant to cross the barrier of eggshells which I've put around my hosta. I picked off eight big fat snails and four slugs this morning. Maybe I'll need to put a sign up, drawing their attention to them.
Back indoors I tidied my desk and went through the pen drawers. I was extremely ruthless and got rid of lots. I do love pens and stationery though, so it was quite hard. Still, tidy now and I even labelled the tray of black pens and the tray of blue ones. I wonder how long that will last!
We had fish and chips from the Corbie for dinner tonight, yummy! We always have a 'special' fish, ie one done in breadcrumbs rather than batter. It costs a little more, but we do enjoy it that way,
A couple of phone calls this evening, catching up with friends which is always good.

Thank you for dropping by my journal and for your comments. I do enjoy them even if I don't always remember to say thank you.
Keep safe everybody, stay home, we'll look after everyone that way.
